Psychotherapy
For a more in depth understanding of what to expect in psychotherapy, please visit our Psychotherapy page. All that is written there is also true of Christian Counseling.
Prayer
At the conclusion of each session, your therapist will pray over you according to what was discussed in therapy, what is going on in your life, and/or any requested prayers.
References to God/Scripture
Your therapist is no theologian, but when and where appropriate, may utilize scripture as it pays relevance to areas in which you are experiencing distress.

What to Expect:
The Hope of Christ
One of Restorative Hope's values is faith. This is because we believe true restoration of one's soul can only be found through partnership with the Holy Spirit. We absolutely believe non believers can experience hope, but this will be limited to the tangible, every day realities we face in what is frankly a broken world. Those who have formed (or are open to forming) a relationship with Jesus, on the other hand, have access to meaning and hope beyond this world. They have a hope that the darkness can and will be overcome because that is what Jesus promised us. But what does it look like to live into this belief? At Restorative Hope, we believe God's purpose for you is something we get to begin living into now. Though we will continue to live in a broken world this side of Heaven, we also see how Jesus worked to bring something of the kingdom of God onto this earth through his own personhood. And now this person of God (the Holy Spirit) lives in you. In Christian Counseling you will discover together with your therapist what God's calling over and into your life is like right here, right now. You will be called to believe and participate in Christ's redeeming love and mission in your every day lived life. And to experience that is a type of restoration beyond what psychotherapy alone can offer.
